A standoff in Beaver Dam late Saturday evening prompted a call to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office and deployment of the S.W.A.T. Team. According to Sheriff’s logs, the incident started just before 8:15 p.m. Saturday (1/30/21) with a traffic pursuit of a red GMC Envoy, and initially involved the Juneau Police Department. The pursuit continued out of Juneau on Highway W, with the suspect vehicle striking a squad car.

The pursuit then made its way into Beaver Dam, where the suspect struck a Juneau Police squad car as well as a Dodge County Sheriff’s Office squad car, causing heavy damage to both vehicles. The suspect then traveled east on Highway W, running off the road just west of Crystal Lake Rd. At that point, the suspected driver of the vehicle displayed a weapon, forcing area law enforcement to block off the area, with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. Team called to the scene.

According to posts on the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, residents near the area were asked to “shelter in place” and that others avoid the area. In a press release issued early Sunday morning, negotiations with the suspect lasted almost 8 hours, with the suspect finally being taken into custody shortly after 4:05 a.m. Sunday (1/31/21). The suspect, a 25-year old male from Oshkosh, was transported to an area hospital and then taken to the Dodge County Detention Facility where he will face multiple charges. The case remains under investigation by the Juneau Police Department and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
