There are several lakes nearby for boating and fishing. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere and great location makes us ideal for any RV enthusiast to enjoy.

Special effects shows, amusement park rides and CityWalk's shops, restaurants and concerts attract nearly 6 million people each year to Universal Studios in Hollywood, California. Campgrounds in the surrounding cities provide cost-saving alternatives to hotels while offering significant amenities to make the stay comfortable.

Balboa RV Park

Balboa RV Park, formerly Birmingham RV Park, is the closest full hook-up campground to Universal Studios. Located in Van Nuys, only 12 miles to the west of the theme park, Balboa has 185 sites for daily, weekly and monthly tenants. This is an older RV park, and many of its sites are not ideal for rigs longer than 30 feet. However, upon arriving, a staff member guides each visitor to an assigned spot and assists with any parking or hook-up difficulties. Laundry facilities, a recreation hall with a pool table and table tennis, and Wi-Fi access are available to make campers’ stays enjoyable. There is no tent camping allowed.

Walnut RV Park

Located in Northridge, California, Walnut RV Park sits 18 miles from Universal Studios and has easy access to major freeways. Guests may enjoy the clubhouse, a swimming pool, Wi-Fi throughout the park and laundry facilities in this city campground. Cable television and telephone services are available for those on extended stays. There is some big-rig access, but it is recommended visitors make reservations for those spots, as the larger spaces are limited. There is no pull-through access -- all the sites are back-in only -- and no tent camping is allowed.

Valencia Travel Village

City Hook Up Near Universal City Calif

A clean and wooded spot, Valencia Travel Village is an ideal campground for those with children, and travelers hoping to add upscale amenities and a country-resort feel to their camping experiences. The Village has 303 full hook-up sites with 64 pull-throughs for daily and weekly stays. Sites on K-Circle are recommended for longer, wider rigs with slide-outs. That area of the park is quieter as it is farther from freeway traffic. Guests can luxuriate in the spa or enjoy one of the three pools: an adults-only pool, a family pool and a kiddie pool. Pets are not only welcome but encouraged, and the Travel Village has a special dog run for their exercise. Tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard and baseball activities are offered, and a playground is on site.

Malibu Beach RV Park

While Malibu Beach RV Park is 33 miles from Universal Studios, camping on the mountains overlooking the ocean is worth the additional traffic. The park has on-site laundry, a convenience store, arcade, game room and TV room. Cable service is available on all the sites and there is limited Wi-Fi access. Each camping site has a picnic table and charcoal grill. If you prefer tent camping, Malibu Beach RV Park can accommodate you, although you must be older than 21 years of age. Pets are only allowed in the RV areas. The beach is an easy walk from the front of the park and ocean-side restaurants are a short distance.

East Shore RV Park

If you are approaching Universal Studios from the east and would prefer to camp outside of the city, East Shore RV Park has camping on the shore of Puddingston Lake, which is part of Bonelli Regional County Park. There are 518 large, paved, full hook-up sites including 15 pull-throughs. Group and tent camping sites in close proximity to water and fire pits also are available. Wi-Fi access is limited to the office and laundry facilities. The park’s pool is open for campers, and visitors have access to fishing, boating and jet skiing on Puddingston Lake. The serene environment and lake views make this an ideal spot to return to after a busy day of sightseeing.
